Director of State and Local Advocacy

Courtney Love was born and raised on the traditional lands of the Puyallup Tribe, in Tacoma, WA. Courtney came to the LEC in October of 2021 via her work as a Precinct Committee Officer (PCO), where she met the LEC Executive Director while she was homeless and parenting her 13-year-old trans son.

Courtney slipped into houselessness after a divorce and while suffering an invisible disability that was triggered when she became aware of the abuse of her brother at the hands of a Tacoma Police Officer and their mother, both slated to be incarcerated into 2023 or beyond. Courtney was homeless for 16 months and rehoused in July of 2022. She thanks one family of friends in particular for keeping her safe and alive.

Courtney has a long history of social engagement and wears other hats within her community – board member of Whole Washington, member of the Tacoma Democratic Socialists of America, and former Vice-chair of Our Revolution Washington.
